Just found your web site. We are building our retirement home in Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. It is a passive off grid solar home and we hope to move in this September. You can see what we are doing by checking out our web site. I will probably have some questions as I read more from your site and we progress on the completion of the interior of the house.
Not all ICF are alike. I am a distributor for a vertical panel system ICF and we can put up to 6 inches of foam on the outside of the wall and something different on the inside of the wall such as 2 inch to better take advantage of the concrete.
We have had good luck in the midwest using 3 inch on the outside and something less on the inside above grade and 2 or 21/2 inch below grade.
Thank you for your information. If you read the whole blog, In the last paragraph, I stated that is exactly what I would do if I had to do it over again. The ICF’s I used had the option to go with 4″ on the outside and 2″ inside and that would have worked just fine.
